What should be the length of the rope - selection methods

The jump rope is considered the most common and affordable sports equipment that is used to achieve various goals.

It can be used both by an athlete with extensive experience and by ordinary people who have just started playing sports. There are several different ways of choosing skipping ropes, the wrong inventory will not allow you to achieve the desired result.

How to choose a rope for your height?

The choice of the inventory in question is carried out according to various criteria, the most important is the length, which is selected depending on the height. With a short length, the rope can hit the legs, too large will stretch on the floor.

The required result can be achieved only if the inventory is of the required length. There are several different ways to select it according to this criterion.

Method 1

In all cases, you have to take the product in your hands.

The first method involves performing the following algorithm of actions:

  1. The rope is taken so that the cord runs down to the floor.
  2. You need to step in the middle with your feet.
  3. The handles are spread slightly to the side, bringing them under the armpits.

For a product of a suitable length, the handles should fit under the armpits. Otherwise, problems may arise at the time of the jumps.

Method 2

Another method allows you to determine with high accuracy how suitable the product is for a particular height.

The procedure looks like this:

  1. The product is taken with one hand by two handles at once.
  2. The arm is extended in front of you at an angle of 90 degrees relative to the body.
  3. The rolling pin should touch the floor, but not rest on it.

This method is much simpler than the previous one. In this case, at the time of determining the size, the cord should not dangle above the floor surface.

Method 3

In some cases, it is almost impossible to manipulate the product. An example is making a purchase through an online store.

In this case, different lookup tables can be used:

  1. With a height of 150 cm, a version with a length of 2 meters is suitable.
  2. With a height of 151-167 cm, it is already recommended to purchase a product with a cord length of 2.5 meters.
  3. The 2.8 meter option is suitable for 168-175 cm height.
  4. Products with a cord length of 3 meters are widespread. They are suitable for height 176-183 cm.
  5. In case of growth over 183 cm, jump ropes with a length of at least 3.5 meters can be purchased.

Such recommendations can be called conditional, since it is rather difficult to talk about the correctness of the choice.

Other criteria when choosing a rope

Despite the fact that the product in question is quite simple, several main selection criteria should be taken into account when choosing it.

They are as follows:

  1. Handle material and weight.
  2. Material and thickness of the cord.

Handle material and weight

The handles are an important element of the rope.

They are manufactured using various materials, the following are most common:

  • Neoprene is considered a leader in its field. The peculiarity of the material is that it copes well with moisture removal. Therefore, even with prolonged exercise, hands will not slide over the surface.
  • Wood is also considered the most suitable material for making a handle. However, it is considered less practical, since its basic properties are lost over time.
  • Plastic is used in the manufacture of most of the cheap versions. The disadvantage is that the plastic does not absorb moisture, so with prolonged use of the rope, the handles can slip.
  • Metal is used when the handles need to be made heavy. Due to this, the muscles of the shoulder group are developed. However, the metal significantly increases the cost of the product.
  • Rubber has been used in the manufacture of handles for a long period, as it is wear-resistant and inexpensive. It is recommended to purchase a similar option for short-term sports.

Not many manufacturers indicate the weight of the grips, so the choice in most cases is based on feeling.

Cord material and thickness

The choice takes into account the thickness of the cord. In most cases, a thickness of 8-9 mm is chosen, 4 mm is enough for a child. The main part is manufactured using various materials.

The most widespread are the following:

  1. The nylon cord is only suitable for children. The material is characterized by high softness and blows to the body will be painless. However, low rigidity will not allow intense training.
  2. Rope versions have been used for a long period. However, they are neither durable nor provide high speed. Over time, the rope loses its quality over a long period of use.
  3. Rubber and plastic cords are suitable for beginners. They are characterized by high elasticity and do not get tangled when playing sports. Plastic has increased rigidity.
  4. Steel cords have been used for a long period in the manufacture of products that can be used at the time of professional sports. To protect the cable, a protective cover made of PVC or silicone is created from above. Cannot be used to perform difficult jumps.
  5. Leather ones have a high operational life, they also do not get entangled and rotate. The disadvantage is that the leather cable cannot be adjusted in length.
  6. Seed beads are made of multi-colored beads made of plastic. Such options are purchased for children.

There are a huge number of rope options on sale. In this case, the choice is made according to the correct selection of length for growth, the quality of the material and the cost, which can also vary over a wide range.
