Running standards are important indicators that determine the required level of physical fitness in a particular type of running exercise. They help to assess their abilities at the present moment in time, monitor the dynamics, and give an incentive to improve skills. In addition, without completing the required categories in running, it is impossible to participate in competitions of the highest category. The athlete simply will not be able to apply for them.
So, what are the standards for running for men for categories - let's analyze this question in an accessible language:
- Fulfillment of the required norm is the basis for awarding a sports title in the discipline "Athletics";
- Without a title of the proper level, the athlete will not be allowed to start of high importance: the Olympic Games, world championships, Europe, Asia;
For example, an athlete who has not defended his Master of Sports status will not be able to take part in the Olympic Games.
- There are exceptions for countries that take part in certain competitions for the first time. This was done in order to expand the geography of the participants.
What are the titles and ranks
Before we consider the requirements for performing the ranks in running in 2019, the table of athletics standards must be deciphered, the abbreviations must be disclosed:
- MS - Master of Sports. Awarded at domestic competitions;
- MSMK - the same status, but of international class. It can only be earned at international competitions;
- CCM - candidate for master of sports;
- I-II-III categories - subdivided into adults and youth.
Please note that the ranks given in the tables in this article are not school TRP standards for running, but are often taken as a basis for assessing the physical fitness of students of sports schools and universities.
It is also important to mention that the standards for daily running and other running disciplines are necessarily subdivided into women and men. At the same time, the former are more lightweight, but do not rush to hope that they are lightweight. It is unlikely that anyone will succeed in performing them without appropriate preparation.
Standards for different disciplines
So, let's take a look at the athletics running categories for women and men in 2019, we will analyze the norms for all running disciplines.
Mens
- Stadium run (indoor) - included in the list of the Olympic Games:
Look, the requirements are quite complex, besides, the gaps between the standards for each successive title increase greatly, this can be seen, for example, if you look at the categories for men in the 3 km race.
- Relay - Olympic Games, European Championships and World Standards:
- Distance with obstacles:
- Cross - pass only for the performance of youth or adult sports categories in running:
- Long-distance highway sprints:
So, we examined the categories of running for men in athletics at 60 meters, 100, 1 km and others, and also sorted out sports running disciplines that participate in the Olympic Games and international competitions. Next, we move on to running standards for women.
Womens
Interestingly, even if a woman at the competition has fulfilled the male category standards for running for the CCM, MS or MSMK, she will still not be able to apply for the male title. As we mentioned above, the standards in the women's sector are slightly lower than in the men's, but, however, they are still very complex.
- Stadium Run - the disciplines are identical to the men's:
- Relay - standards for running for women for categories in classic relay competitions:
- Distance with obstacles - note that the obstacles themselves in women's races are lower in height, but the varieties, the total number and the interval between them are exactly the same with the men's ones:
- Cross:
- Long-distance sprint on the highway. As you can see from the table, women run all classic marathons just like men:
Why is this needed?
Let's sum up, figure out why grades and titles are needed at all:
- The standards for running for MS (Master of Sports), MSMK and CCM must be fulfilled at planned domestic or international competitions.
- They are a kind of encouragement of the athlete's athletic achievements;
- Promote the popularization of sports among young people;
- Increase the degree of physical training of the population;
- They help to develop and improve physical culture and sports in the country.
The titles are awarded by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the athlete receives a distinctive badge and a special certificate. Such marks for an athlete are an excellent incentive to improve their skill level in order to continue to adequately represent the country at world competitions.
