There are two common tactics for the 1.5K run: finishing fast and leading.
Leading
If you feel the strength in yourself and know that among the athletes standing with you on the starting line, you have the best time indicators at this distance, then it is better not to tempt fate and take the initiative into your own hands. Try to take the lead from the first meters and dictate your running pace to your opponents. Many weaker opponents will be eliminated in the first 500 meters, the rest will start to “fall away” later.
But the main thing here is not to "drive" yourself. Otherwise, even a good lead created by you can be “eaten up” in the last hundred meters of the distance. If you know that your opponents have better results than yours, then you should not force events, and the burden of leadership will not bring you anything good. You just "eat up" the tempo, and fall off the back of the group.
Quick finish
In big competitions, such as the World Championships or even the Olympic Games, athletes often do not show outstanding results on a 1.5-kilometer course, counting on their phenomenal finish.

And indeed. At such large competitions, it is rarely possible to single out a clear favorite of the tournament, so it is easiest for the participants to run not at a fast pace the entire distance, but at the last 400 meters "Turn on" acceleration and find out who is the best finisher.
This can be done at less prestigious competitions. If you know that you have an excellent finish, then your only task is to hold out in the leading group of about 1100 meters, and then start accelerating. You can even lag behind the leaders a little, but at the same time you must know your capabilities and understand how strong you will be in order to overcome the gap.
For those who do not have a finish and cannot become a leader, it is best to just run evenly the entire distance, accelerating in the last 400 meters. In this case, you will be fighting exclusively with yourself. Beginners do not need to rush forward from the very start, they need to “catch their pace” and follow it to the end, only accelerating at the end.
