Mass races are becoming more and more popular in Russia, and the capital, Moscow, is no exception. Nowadays, it is difficult to surprise someone with athletes of both sexes and all ages jogging along the alleys of Moscow parks. And often the runners get together to, as they say, look at others and show themselves.
One of the events where you can do this is the weekly free parkran Timiryazevsky. What kind of race is it, where are they held, at what time, who can become their participants, as well as what are the rules of events - read in this material.
What is Timiryazevsky parkrun?
This event is a five-kilometer race for a specific time.
When does it pass?
Parkran Timiryazevsky is held weekly, on Saturdays, and starts at 09:00 Moscow time.
Where does it go?
The races are organized in the Moscow park of the Moscow Agricultural Academy named after K.A. Timiryazeva (otherwise - Timiryazevsky Park).
Who can participate?
Any Muscovite or a guest of the capital can take part in the race, and you can also run at completely different speeds. Competitions are held solely for pleasure and positive emotions.
Participation in parkrun Timiryazevsky does not cost a dime for any participant. The organizers only ask participants to register in the parkrun system in advance on the eve of the first race and take with them a printed copy of their barcode. The race result will not be counted without a barcode.
Age groups. Their rating
During each Parkran race, a rating is applied among the groups, divided by age. Thus, all athletes participating in the race can compare their results with each other.
The ranking is calculated as follows: the competitor's time is compared with the established world record for a runner of a specific age and gender. Thus, the percentage is entered. The higher the percentage, the better. All runners are compared with those of other competitors of similar age and gender.
Track
Description
The length of the track is 5 kilometers (5000 meters).
It runs along the old alleys of Timiryazevsky Park, which is recognized as a forestry monument.
Here are some of the features of this track:
- There are no asphalt paths here, so the entire route runs exclusively on the ground. In winter, the snow on the tracks is trampled by outdoor enthusiasts, runners and skiers.
- Since the snow cover in the park lasts until about mid-winter, it is recommended to wear spiked sneakers during the cold season.
- Also, in rainy weather, in some parts of the park, where the track passes, it can be dirty, there may be puddles, and in autumn, fallen leaves.
- The track is marked with signs. In addition, volunteers can be located along its length.
- Parkran is held on the paths of the park, where other citizens can walk or play sports at the same time. The organizers ask you to take this into account and make way for them.
A full description of the track is given on the official website of the Timiryazevsky parkcreen.
Safety regulations
In order to make the races as safe as possible, the organizers have developed a number of rules.
They are as follows:
- You need to be friendly and considerate towards other people walking in the park or playing sports here.
- The organizers ask, if possible, in order to preserve the environment, come to the event on foot, or get to the park by public transport.
- You should be extremely careful when you are near parking lots and roads.
- During the race, you need to carefully look at your step, especially if you are running on grass, gravel or other uneven surface.
- It is necessary to pay attention to possible obstacles that are encountered on the track.
- Make sure your health allows you to overcome it before going out on a distance.
- Warm up before the race is required!
- In case you see that someone on the track has become ill, stop and help him: on your own, or by calling the doctors.
- You can run the race by taking the dog with you as a company, but you will have to keep the four-legged on a short leash and under vigilant control.
- If you plan to participate in the event in a wheelchair, the organizers ask you to inform in advance. Such participants, as a rule, start later than the others and cover the distance on one side.

Great park, great coverage, great people and great surroundings. It is wonderful that you can escape from the bustle of the capital and be alone with nature in Timiryazevsky Park.

There is almost always calmness in this place. And also in the park there are many funny squirrels and good-natured people with thermoses in which there is delicious tea. Come to the races!

We come to Parkran with the whole family: with my husband and our second-grader daughter. Some even come with all the kids. It's nice to see both kids and elderly athletes.

I want to say a huge thank you to the helpful volunteers: for their help, for their care. At the first opportunity I myself will try to participate as a volunteer here.

Somehow my husband dragged me to Parkran. Dragged in - and I was gone. Great start to Saturday morning! There are wonderful people around, an interesting track, a warm attitude. Squirrels in the park are jumping, beauty! Come all for jogging in Timiryazevsky Park! I am already saying this as a runner with decent experience.
