We continue the cycle with articles under the general title: "Where to ride in Kamyshin?" Today we will talk about the route along the Ilovlya River, namely from the village of Dvoryanskoye to Petrov Val.
The length of such a route from Kamyshin will be about 50 km, which is quite within the power of even inexperienced cyclists, if, of course, ride at a calm pace.
Until Dvoryanskoye you will have to go along the Saratov highway. Traffic, as it should be on the federal highway, is very busy, and heavy vehicles are often passing by. On the way to Dvoryanskoye, you will come across several ascents, some of which are quite steep, and not every beginner will be able to master them. However, the plus is the fact that this road is not to Volgograd, but to Saratov, which means that the quality of the asphalt is much better.
On the other hand, the asphalt surface in some parts of the road is so narrow that you have to pull over to the side every time a car passes by.
But when the moment comes to turn to the village of Dvoryanskoe, a pleasant surprise awaits travelers - a well-groomed spring right next to the road with very nutritious water.
After the spring begins what was worth going here for. An almost continuous descent with a length of about 5 awaits you all the way to the village! km on an asphalt road with a normal quality of asphalt, on which cars very rarely pass. Having reached the village "with a breeze", you need to turn left and drive along one of the village's streets in order to get onto the road leading along Ilovlya to Petrov Val. And this is where the fun begins.
Good dirt road along the river and a beautiful view of the river. Petrov Vala is about 10 km away. There is no point in rushing anywhere, because that is why you came here - to enjoy nature. Since Ilovlya is not a mountain river, it means that the road along it is flat and there are no ups and downs.
But there are also small drawbacks. Firstly, along the river to your left, there will be rails, and, accordingly, trains along them are not uncommon. Secondly, a large number of mosquitoes and midges are waiting for you on the way, so be sure to wear glasses so that the trip does not turn into a continuous procedure of wiping your eyes. Also, do not forget that in the spring and after heavy rains, Ilovlya floods, and you can just stumble upon an impassable section of the road, which you will have to overcome on foot with a bicycle at the ready. However, these are really little things that you don't really pay attention to.
After you reach Lebyazhye, you will have a choice of how to go to Kamyshin - along the highway through Petrov Val, or through the Ushi Mountains.
The first option attracts with an asphalt surface and this is the only plus.
The road through the Ushi mountains is much more interesting, but at the same time more difficult. About half of the way will be along a sandy road, some of which are simply impossible to cycle by bike. However, the beauty of nature, the almost complete absence of cars and the view of the Ushi Mountains compensates for all this, but I do not advise those who arrived at Lebyazhy already tired to go through the Ushi Mountains, since the path through Petrov Val, although a little longer, is much easier.
Be sure to try this route at least once, you will not regret it.
