CrossFit in Russia appeared relatively recently. Nevertheless, we already have something and someone to be proud of. Our athletes made a particularly big breakthrough in this sports discipline in 2017, reaching a decent level in the global crossfit arena.
In one of the articles, we have already talked about the famous Russian crossfitter Andrei Ganin. And now we want to more closely acquaint our readers with the most powerful woman in Russia. This is athlete Larisa Zaitsevskaya (@larisa_zla), who not only showed the best result among domestic women crossfitters, but was also able to enter the top 40 most prepared people in Europe. And this is already a very solid result, which is quite close to admission to participate in the Crossfit Games.
Who is Larisa Zaitsevskaya and how it happened that a young, musically gifted girl shows such phenomenal results in a rather tough sport - we will tell you in our article.
Short biography
Larisa Zaitsevskaya was born in 1990 in Chelyabinsk. After leaving school, she easily entered the South Ural State University, which she graduated in 2012.
While studying at the university, a young student of the Department of Russian Language and Literature revealed her incredible vocal talent to those around her and throughout her student years she often sang at various university events.
Every year, Larisa Zaitsevskaya's vocal abilities only improved, and many even prophesied that she would go into a musical career.
The gifted graduate, despite the available data, did not go into music and show business, however, and did not work in her specialty. Larisa got a job as an auditor in the company of her relative.
Until graduation, the life of this talented girl had nothing to do with CrossFit. Moreover, in her hometown - Chelyabinsk - at that time this sports discipline was practically not developed.
Coming to CrossFit
The beginning of the story of Larisa's acquaintance with CrossFit almost coincided with the beginning of her work as an auditor. By her physique, Zaitsevskaya was not a very athletic girl, slightly inclined to be overweight. Therefore, she periodically had to deal with excess weight by visiting the gym. I must say, Larisa was distinguished by great perseverance and dedication: having set a goal for herself, the girl easily transformed by summer.
Follow your husband to workout
Larisa Zaitsevskaya got into CrossFit quite by accident and did not initially identify herself with this serious sport. The thing is that her husband, being a fan of a healthy lifestyle, became interested in CrossFit programs, which were considered innovative for Chelyabinsk at that time. Larisa, as a loving spouse, wanted to spend more time with her husband and share his interests, so she came to the gym with him. At first, she considered this occupation temporary, and her main incentive in training was the desire to get a beach form for the next season. However, soon everything went completely wrong, as the girl originally expected.
Larisa Zaitsevskaya made her first steps in CrossFit in March 2013. After the first intense workout, she did not return to classes for almost a week - so strong was the sore throat. But then this difficult sport literally absorbed her completely. And the matter was not at all in the desire to become better and stronger, but in the fact that such a variety of various exercises in the gym aroused interest in the young woman and a burning desire to learn each of them.
First competition
Six months later, the novice athlete first took part in amateur competitions. According to her, she went there not for prizes, and not for a victory, but solely for the company. But quite unexpectedly for herself, the young woman immediately took second place. This was the impetus for Larisa to decide to qualify for professional athletes.
Larisa herself believes that then she was very hardy and interested. There was no question of any technique or aspirations at that time.
But it was perseverance and interest that could make a simple graduate of the Faculty of Journalism the most prepared athlete in the Russian Federation today.
Today Larisa Zaitsevskaya is simply unrecognizable - she has become a real professional athlete. At the same time, despite impressive athletic performance and frantic strength training, she managed to maintain an attractive feminine figure. An “unenlightened” person, looking at this slender, pretty girl, is unlikely to guess in her the most powerful woman in Russia.
All this became possible thanks to Larisa's responsible approach to training and competitions. Despite the huge will to win, she considers it unacceptable to take doping and trains exclusively for her own pleasure. In this she is supported by her loving husband, who is sometimes both her coach and teammate.
Indicators in exercises
When Larisa competed at the Open-qualifier, the federation recorded her personal results in some programs that were included in the qualifying rounds of 2017.
According to the data of the International CrossFit Federation, the recorded indicators in the programs and exercises of Zaitsevskaya are as follows:

Note: Larisa Zaitsevskaya is constantly growing and developing as an athlete, therefore the data presented in the table can quickly lose relevance.
Results of performances
Larisa Zaitsevskaya came to professional crossfit four years ago, as they say, almost from the street. She had absolutely no sports career behind her, like other athletes. Initially, her main task was to tone the body. However, the sports component of the discipline gaining popularity so captured her that during this short period she managed to go from a simple amateur to a successful professional athlete with many victories in competitions at various levels.

Editorial note: we do not publish regional and world Open results. However, according to Larisa herself, their team has become closer than ever to going to the world level.
A year after joining CrossFit, the athlete began to participate in serious competitions, and by 2017 she had achieved impressive results.
In 2016, Zaitsevskaya participated in her first Open. Then she took 15th place in the Russian Federation and entered the first thousand athletes in the European region.
Coaching activities
Now Larisa Zaitsevskaya is not only preparing for new competitions, but also works as a trainer at the CrossFit club Soyuz CrossFit. To attract young people to weightlifting sports, Larisa and her colleague conduct free classes for juniors in the weightlifting section. For 4 years of work in the club, she, as a coach, has prepared more than a hundred young athletes, not forgetting about her own preparation for the upcoming competitions.
It should be noted that in 2017 Larisa significantly increased her performance in the Open. In particular, she became the most prepared woman in the Russian Federation, and took 37th place in Europe. Today it is separated by a few balls from the first places, and, therefore, from participation in the next Games.
Finally
The fact that Larisa Zaitsevskaya is one of the most prepared women in the Russian Federation is confirmed by a special certificate. Who knows, maybe after Open 2018 we will see our CrossFit star in the ranks of the athletes competing at the Crossfit Games 2018.
Observing Larisa's sports career, we can say with confidence that all her achievements at this stage are far from the peak of her capabilities. And the athlete herself says that she still has something to do - she does not feel tired. The only thing that Larisa is afraid of, in her own words, is that “sooner or later I will give up, and CrossFit will no longer attract me as it used to be ...”
