If you carefully analyze the results of the last two seasons of the CrossFit Games, you will notice that Icelandic athletes are increasingly being displaced by natives of Australia. Australians, like no other, are suddenly showing a huge interest in CrossFit. This was confirmed by the appearance on Olympus of the CrossFit Games of the Australian silver medalist of 2017. She is the athlete Kara Webb.
Kara is definitely an outstanding athlete. Despite the fact that the girl started her career in professional crossfit almost 5 years ago, she still continues to develop.
In her own words, she is really ready to win the 2018 Games and will do everything in her power for this.
Short biography
Kara Webb (@ karawebb1) was born in 1990 in a small town in eastern Australia - Brisbone. Since childhood, she was a very athletic girl. Her main passion, like most Australians, was surfing. In it, by the way, she was very successful and was able to take several prizes in competitions between schools.
After she graduated from high school, she went to university and at the same time got to know CrossFit. The story of our acquaintance was extremely simple - Kara came to a fitness center, where one of the disciplines was CrossFit. And it was there that she decided to try this emerging new sport for the first time.
Coming to professional crossfit
Not taking this sport seriously for the first six months, Kara still achieved her goals - she returned to good physical shape and a thin waist. But the girl decided not to stop there and six months later she first tried herself for qualification, but did not pass the selection.
At the same time, Kara Webb's main sports principle was born, thanks to which she is progressing as a professional athlete to this day, namely, "become better than yourself now."
After several years of hard training, the athlete finally managed to achieve what she wanted and went to crossfit competitions - first to regional, and then to the Games. What she saw at world competitions was radically different, both in complexity and in the very approach to loads, from what Kara was used to seeing in domestic crossfit gyms. This impressed her so much that the girl decided by all means to become a real champion.
All this led not only to the fact that the athlete became the silver medalist at the last competitions, but also to a number of records that Kara Webb set simply "by accident". Some of them were even recorded in the Guinness Book of Records, which does her great honor.
Opening your own hall
In the modern period, one can note not only Kara's impressive results in preparation for the next competition, but also several interesting facts.
Firstly, the athlete became the first second-tier coach in Australia and opened her own affiliate in her hometown. This is a hall for the elite, i.e. for people who decide to go in for CrossFit not just because it is an excellent replacement for classic fitness, but in order to participate in competitions at a professional level.
To open a crossfit gym, Kara took out a loan, which paid off already within the first year of the club's operation. The thing is that there was no end to those wishing to work out under the guidance of one of the top athletes of our time.
Athlete's Training Principles
Kara Webb is constantly training to get better. But, unlike most athletes who look up to the main competitors, she chose herself as the main rival.
There is no point in how much you train if you are not achieving great results. And even more so, there is no point in training if you could not become better yourself tomorrow, says Kara.
All this helps her to constantly improve herself. So, recently she got into the Guinness Book of Records as a person who managed to sit down with a pistol 42 times in 60 seconds. Kara Webb then pushed 130 kg (286 lb) with ease.
Effectiveness
An interesting fact: if you look at the page with official statistics on the Reebok portal, then since the beginning of 2018, the list has changed the name of one of the top athletes in Australia. So, Kara Webb became Kara Sanders in marriage, which, however, in no way affected her sports achievements.
Kara Webb began her career in CrossFit at the age of 18, and after 3 years she was able to break into the Australian professional crossfit arena. And by 2012, she became the champion of Australia, successfully defended the oceanic regional and got to the games for the first time.
The differences from the regional ocean and Australian competitions impressed the athlete so much that she decided to completely change her training program. This gave results and the girl was able to climb more than 7 positions.
After that, a minor injury sustained during regional performances knocked Kara unsettled, but already in 2015 she entered the top 10. The next two seasons became even more productive for her.
Step to victory
Season 17 could be a landmark for her. The athlete lost only a couple of points to the winner, and even then by an unfortunate accident - the judges did not count several repetitions in key exercises, which is why Kara lost those points that separated her from the first place.
Nevertheless, the athlete does not despair and continues to improve in order to show a completely different form in the 2018 season and can hardly reach the top of the victory podium.

Main factors
If we consider the athletic characteristics of an athlete separately from performances, then it can be noted that she is a workout-oriented athlete with fairly average indicators of explosive strength.
Kara takes this shortcoming with versatility, which was originally a development goal for CrossFit athletes. In particular, it is thanks to her versatility that she successfully performs at the CrossFit Games. She can equally well push the bar and run with a beam on her shoulder.
Finally
Of course, athletes like Kara Webb and her compatriot = this is direct evidence that CrossFit has lost its concentrated center in Iceland and the USA. And, most importantly, such champions inspire hope that crossfit athletes from the CIS countries will soon be able to compete on equal terms with other world athletes.
