In CrossFit, you can often find fanatic athletes who train 15-20 times a week, use all kinds of drugs without publicly admitting it, and cannot imagine their life outside the sports industry. However, the athlete Margaux Alvarez, which will be discussed later, is a prime example of how moderation is good at everything.
The athlete believes that, even being in her peak competitive form, one should not forget that this is just a sport that should not interfere with her personal life.
And even if you train 20 times a day, no one is safe from injury, which can ruin a career overnight. And, therefore, you must always take care that in the event of retirement from sports there is always something to do in life.
Margo Alvarez, being a professional winemaker, was able to become an outstanding athlete and qualify for the CrossFit Games several times. Moreover, three times she was among the top five winners of the competition.
And, most importantly, the girl believes that, despite all the psychological attitudes and physical data, one must remember that sport is only an occupation - not the goal of life. It is a great honor to become the most prepared woman on the planet, but it is important to remain feminine ...
Curriculum Vitae
Margo Alvarez was born in 1985. She is one of those athletes who did not have a sports background before joining CrossFit. In her own words, it was the lack of a sports background that made her what we know today - one of the most prepared women on the planet, who has retained the thinnest waist.
In the 90s, the girl had nothing to do with sports. The young rebel refused to all the father's attempts to send his daughter to some sports section. Even when she was assigned to the martial arts section for a while, she began skipping training after a week, and then completely abandoned classes.
All this upset her father, who had high hopes that Margot, as the heiress of the largest vineyard on the state border, would be able to achieve much more than just become the heir to his estate.
Passion for fitness
Closer to the age of 17, Margot began to get involved in cheerleading, having worked in high school for 2 seasons with the football team. It was there that the girl met all the delights of fitness.
So, already in 2003, she seriously thought about competing in the “Fitness Bikini” category at Olympia. However, it was at this moment that her father deterred her from this venture. The young schoolgirl did not even suspect what list of drying drugs and hormones she would have to take, and already almost agreed to the coach's persuasion to qualify, but her father opposed.
In the future, the girl began to support her father's position regarding the use of additional stimulants, which can give an increase in muscle mass. She considered taking any doping drugs unacceptable in sports. Thanks to this situation, Margot was able to choose a strength sport in which serious results can be achieved without resorting to hormonal stimulation.
Coming to CrossFit
The future champion of regional selections met with CrossFit in her student years. After becoming a graduate of one of the technical universities in Massachusetts, she noticed upon returning home that the student lifestyle and diet were not in vain for her figure.
Margot decided to visit the fitness room again in order to get back in shape. She found an unusual announcement for a “crossfit-combat” section, which combined classic boxing training with crossfit training programs. Interested in this approach, the girl decided to kill two birds with one stone - she will learn self-defense and tighten her figure.
In the future, the crossfit component of training dragged it out completely, and the athlete reached great heights in this competitive discipline. However, she was rather hesitant. The difference between starting crossfit training and the first tournament is almost 5 years. Having become interested in this sport in 2008, the girl was at the first competitions only at the end of the 2012 season. And the first serious results in the tournament she achieved only after 2 years.
Rapid development of the athlete
Margo Alvarez is a two-time competition medalist in the Norkal region. Among her achievements - 2nd place in the Southern Regional District in 2015 in Dallas; 3rd in the Western Region in Portland in 2016 and 3rd in the South in San Antonio in 2017.
Margot spent most of her childhood in Montana, where she fell in love with sports. She became a Certified CrossFit Trainer in 2011 while working in the Bay Area. Today she is an active participant in CFHQ seminars and travels the world as an “ambassador” in the field of CrossFit.
Primary activity
The main work of Margo Alvarez is connected precisely with his father's vineyards. Despite her sporty lifestyle, Margot, nevertheless, allows herself to drink a bottle of collection wine with friends once a week.
Margot has a wildly successful career in the CrossFit world and has no plans to leave CrossFit Olympus anytime soon. But between workouts, she finds time for winemaking. Margarita actively helps her father look after the vineyards and produce wine.
“I am always looking for balance,” she says. "Sometimes I look for more hours a day, but I try my best."
Margot believes waking up early in the morning is the key to productivity. She recommends prioritizing the issues that matter every day and minimizing time spent on social media or TV. The girl constantly finds new ways to more efficiently allocate her time, since she trains for 6-8 hours every day.
After the 2016 Games, my coach and I knew we needed to reduce the number of distractions and also take the time to help my dad with the harvest, Alvarez shares his thoughts.
Margot found her solution at the Barn Gym, which will be built on the vineyard. “The ability to consolidate both projects into one sense,” she said.
With a 2016 grape harvest that brought £ 25,000 to the family's treasury, Margot looks forward to the future. “The next steps include obtaining federal and state licenses so that we can sell wine,” the girl shares her plans.
Achievements
Margo Alvarez has been performing at major events not so long ago. Her tournament debut came at the peak of the careers of Dottir and Fronning. It was in 2012 that the athlete first took part in the regional selection, taking only 49th place. Such a start did not imply that the athlete would be noticed in a serious arena. However, already in 2012, it was noticed by one of the largest sponsors of CrossFit Games - the Rogue fitness network.
This year she was offered to study in the network of affiliate clubs provided by the founders. In turn, this helped her to achieve the best results and the following year she passed the regional selection for the main games, representing Northern California.
The athlete won the first prize only in 2014, when she was able to enter the top three winners of the CrossFit games, and on this her career began to decline.
It's all about the so common injuries on the way to Olympus. In particular, Margo Alvarez suffered a serious hormonal imbalance due to the fact that she used new methods of preparation for the games of 2015. She managed to recover before the competition, but her performance at the games themselves was already far from ideal.
In 2016, Alvarez almost completely dropped out of serious competitive sports. She develops more as a coach. In the same year, she inherits the vineyards. The workload in business knocks her out of her CrossFit Games preparation somewhat. However, this did not prevent her from declaring that in 2018, thanks to a change in diet and the main factors affecting the preparation process for the competition, she will be able to show a new form. The girl hopes to knock out Tia-Claire Toomey's first place in the sun.

Basic sports performance
Despite the fact that Margo Alvarez has never taken first place in a serious competition, her basic CrossFit performance is amazing. The thing is that she gave her peak indicators in different exercises in different years at different competitions.

Barbell snatch | 157 |
Pull-ups on the horizontal bar | 67 |

Bench press | 135 |
Deadlift | 225 kg |
Taking a barbell to the chest and push | 125 |
Separate mention deserves what results Margo Alvarez performed on the main indicators in the programs.
It should be noted that her results are very often compared with those of men. But the trouble is that its results were not recorded by Dave Castro and the company at any competition.
Program | Index |
Fran | 2 minutes 43 seconds |
Helen | 10 minutes 12 seconds |
Very bad fight | 427 rounds |
Fifty fifty | 23 minutes |
Cindy | Round 35 |

Margo Alvarez herself explains her results by the psychology of struggle. The thing is that when she was at serious regional competitions or at the games themselves, her main task was to defeat the closest competitor, which slowed her down somewhat. In addition, every time the programs given out at the Games and at the Open turned out to be quite unexpected for her.
To summarize
Margo Alvarez is a prime example of how serious athletes can enjoy training, not winning. Despite the fact that she never became a champion of the CrossFit games, she managed to attract investors. And, most importantly, she was able to ensure that her feminine form did not suffer from the preparation for the main competitions in the industry.
In particular, among all the famous female athletes, she has the thinnest waist with very good drying. In the offseason, this parameter of the athlete's body fluctuates in the range of 60-63 centimeters. During the competition, a young woman dries her waist up to 57 centimeters. Every time a girl takes a barbell before a snatch or before a deadweight, the judges are seriously worried that she might just break. However, the secret of its amazing strength lies in the use of a weightlifting belt, which allows you to save the waist from serious stress during preparation, preventing overdevelopment and hypertrophy of the oblique abdominal muscles.
