Beef Protein is a dietary supplement obtained from beef using the ultra-concentration or hydrolysis technique. An innovative method of extracting the protein component allows you to free it from fat and cholesterol, while maintaining the unique composition of amino acids. This makes the protein very similar to whey isolate. However, unlike the latter, it is enriched with creatine, one of the constituents of natural meat, and is not burdened with lactose and whey gluten. There are no other differences between these supplements.
It is believed that beef protein can cause intoxication of immune cells, which ultimately provokes cancer. Therefore, nutritionists advise to consume beef protein with caution and only in case of lactose intolerance. Protein from soy or eggs is considered safer. However, remember that this opinion is not scientifically supported. In other words, no direct link has been found between eating beef and an increased risk of cancer. At the same time, beef albumin is more expensive than serum albumin, which is associated with a more complex production technology.
Features of beef protein
It is the protein that ensures the growth of muscle mass during the training process. The direct cause is excess nitrogen utilized by the muscles. The protein can be of vegetable or animal origin.
Animal protein has its own characteristics:
- It has a unique amino acid composition that rivals whey protein in absorption rate. In this case, allergy to lactose is excluded.
- Growing muscle mass requires increased nutrition with an emphasis on complex carbohydrates and pure protein with essential amino acids. Plus, you need to somehow retain water in the body. This requires creatine, and there is enough of it in beef. Therefore, beef protein is considered an excellent source of compounds for muscle growth.
- Post-workout muscle recovery also requires amino acids and energy, which can be provided by beef protein hydrolyzate. It does not contain cholesterol, which is also one of its benefits.
There are several dietary supplements based on this product:
Muscle Meds Carnivor
Isolate freed from lactose, sugar, cholesterol, lipids with BCAA. Complex cost:
- 908 g - 2420 rubles;
- 1816 g - 4140 rubles;
- 3632 g - 7250 rubles.
SAN Titanium Beef Supreme
A biocomplex like a hydrolyzate with BCAA and creatine. 900 g costs 2070 rubles, 1800 g - 3890.
100% Hydro Beef Peptid by Scitec Nutrition
The dietary supplement contains 25 g of protein per serving, 1.5 g of fat, 4 mg of carbohydrates, 78 mg of potassium and 164 mg of sodium.
The supplement costs 2000 rubles for 900 g (30 servings) and 3500 for 1800 g (60 servings).
Positive and negative points
The beef product has a high biological value: its molecules, broken down by hydrolysis, are absorbed by the body in just half an hour. This ensures that the muscles are saturated with amino acids. Moreover, an athlete gets several times more pure protein from beef protein than from a piece of better quality beef.
In addition, the biocomplex:
- prolongs the positive nitrogen balance in the body;
- activates the synthesis of its own protein molecules;
- blocks catabolic processes;
- relieves muscle fatigue.
Beef protein contains a lot of microcellulose fibers, which allows preparations based on it to reduce appetite and thereby adjust the athlete's weight. These are all the advantages of dietary supplements.
Among the downsides is the ability to foam while stirring. It takes time for the air bubbles to settle. The cost of preparations with beef protein is quite high compared to whey isolate, which may explain its less popularity.
Beef protein intake
The method of use is the same as for all powder supplements. The algorithm is standard: the first time it is taken in the morning on an empty stomach to lower the level of cortisol in the blood. As you know, it is cortisol that enhances catabolic (destructive) processes in the body and muscles. The drug is taken a second time before training.
A spoonful of the supplement is dissolved in a glass of liquid and drunk one to four times per workout, depending on the goal the coach sets for the athlete.
When consuming beef protein in tablet form, remember that one serving of the preparation contains up to 3 g of protein. Take as follows: 4 tablets before exercise and 2 after, during the rest of the day. Capsules are taken in the same way.
Pure beef protein is not used as a means for losing weight.
