The ability to play chess is very important for any person. Consider in this article the basics of playing chess for those who know how the pieces move, but nothing more.
3 stages of the game
The game consists of 3 stages
- Debut or beginning of the game. The main task in the opening is to bring your minor pieces into battle as quickly and efficiently as possible and to ensure the protection of the king. Light pieces include elephants and knights.
- Midgame or mid game. In this phase of the game, the main battle unfolds with a large number of pieces for both opponents.
- Endgame or final phase. When the opponents have very few pieces left, then the last part of the game comes.
Let's consider each of them in more detail
Debut
In the opening, it is very important to bring your minor pieces to the striking position as quickly as possible, while controlling the center as best as possible. Accordingly, at the beginning of the game, it is not worthwhile to move a lot with pawns, and not to move one piece twice without real need. In addition, you should try to arrange castling for the king so that he is safe.
Do not rush to remove the queen at the beginning of the game. Focus your attention on bringing knights and bishops into battle.
Mittelgame
When the minor pieces are already in an active position, the king is safe, then the time comes when it is necessary to come up with plans to attack the enemy and defend their possessions. First of all, you need to understand that you cannot play aimlessly. There must always be some goal. For example, the capture of a piece or field, being on which it will be possible to create serious problems for the enemy.
You choose a goal and start thinking about moves in order to achieve it. In this phase of the game, it is necessary to bring heavy pieces into battle, namely the queen and rooks. Tied rooks are very strong, so after the opening you should try to tie the rooks.
Endgame
When the majority of the pieces have already been cut down, the game enters the final stage, when the task becomes not just to occupy some square, but to put a mate directly, or vice versa, to defend against it. To play correctly in the final stage, it is necessary to learn the basic techniques of setting a checkmate using one or more pieces.
