I must say right away that in the article I will not load you with medical terms. I want to share my experience and the experience of a large number of joggers and professionals who have repeatedly encountered injuries caused by running.

Do not rush to see a doctor

No matter how it sounds, do not rush to see a doctor who is not a specialist in sports medicine when the injury is not very severe. If this is not the case in your city, then be prepared that during a consultation about your sore, an ordinary doctor will prescribe you a bed rest and some kind of ointment for sprains, which he prescribes to old grandmothers and children who fell from the swing.

The fact is that an ordinary doctor is interested in the patient's health, and not in the fact that the patient recovers faster and does not have time to lose shape. Therefore, bed rest and ointment will really heal your wound. But you need to understand that in this case, do not expect a quick result.

What then is to be done?

If you have a muscle pain, then your task is to remove the load from it. And the stronger the pain, the less stress should be given to it. Namely, if the pain is mild, then you can continue to use the affected area, but significantly reduce the load, for example, run only light and slow crosses. If the pain is severe, simply eliminate any stress on that muscle.

That being said, find alternative exercises that train other parts of the body without affecting the sore muscle. For example, if your periosteum is sick, do squats and ab workouts. Such an injury will give you the opportunity to focus on the area of ​​the body that was likely to be under stress. And so on. In this case, the injury will heal, but the training will not stop, it will simply change its direction.

It is imperative to see a doctor in case of serious injury

But if you have received a serious injury, because of which it is difficult even to walk, then be sure to see a doctor. He will apply an elastic bandage or cast. This will allow the muscle to heal faster, and also prevent accidentally touching the sore spot.

Pick up the ointment yourself

Doctors prescribe good ointments. But it is best to pick up an ointment for sprains yourself. Because one ointment can help you quickly, while another can heal injuries very slowly. Therefore, purchase various inexpensive ointments for sprains and bruises and see which effect is greater.
